You are responsible for the collection, sorting or reuse of professional packaging waste. The professional packaging EPR scheme supports your activities.

To take advantage of this, you will be able to register with CITEO PRO from autumn 2026.

for local authorities

The EPR scheme for professional packaging provides for three mechanisms for local authorities:

Plastics

Financial support for the collection, sorting and traceability of professional plastic packaging waste:
– Collected at public recycling centres;
– Leaving sorting centres;
– Collected as part of collections at markets and other one-off events.

Furthermore, these waste streams must not be eligible for support from the household packaging and graphic paper sector (EMPG).

Wood

The collection of professional wooden packaging waste, which has been separated from other waste at public recycling centres, for any local authority that requests it.

The conditions that must be met to benefit from the scheme:
– Separation of reusable pallets from non-reusable professional wooden packaging waste;
– All professional wooden packaging, including reusable pallets, must be handed over to the recycling organisation.

Details on how to be listed will be announced shortly.

Cardboard

Financial compensation for the proportion of professional packaging cardboard collected by local authorities under the Household packaging EPR scheme.

In this scenario, the payment of support is handled by the Houshold Packaging Producer Responsability Organisation, with a system in place for re-invoicing the Producer Responsability Organisation for Professional packaging EPR scheme.

A partnership between CITEO PRO and Ecomaison

As part of the professional packaging sector, Producer Responsability Organisations are required to manage professional wooden packaging waste collected at public waste collection centres.

It is notably to tackle this challenge that CITEO PRO and Ecomaison have decided to join forces: the former bringing its network and experience in timber management, the latter its expertise in the 3R challenges relating to packaging.

I register from autumn 2026

To benefit from the financial support schemes, you can register with CITEO PRO and complete the form in the application portal.

02.

I report my operations to the approved Producer Responsability Organisations

the collection, sorting and traceability of professional plastic packaging waste collected at public waste collection points, at markets (or other events), and upon leaving the sorting centre.

03.

I ensure reliable traceability

of my operations (which can be monitored).

Traceability at the heart of the supply chain

A traceability tool common to all eco-organisations, and coordinated within OCAEPRO, is currently being developed.
This tool will enable data to be centralised, facilitate the payment of grants and measure the performance of packaging waste management schemes among businesses.

Pending its implementation, the support payments will be made via a transitional system.
