Support
for the development of solutions for the reuse and recycling of catering packaging

CITEO PRO allocates up to 5 % of the contributions it collects each year to the development of re-use.
Following the success of its third edition, the EncoRE ‘More Reuse’ call for projects is now closed as the dedicated budget has been exhausted. We would like to thank all project leaders for their commitment and interest. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact us by email: foucauld.baschet@citeopro.com

 The 2026 Call for Proposals is now closed.

A three-step application process:

Funding for CITEO PRO clients and providers of reuse solutions

The funding package is aimed
at:- CITEO PRO clients, with no minimum contribution required;
– Providers of reuse solutions who have at least one letter of intent signed by a CITEO PRO client, for their R&D projects and studies.

These projects cover all types of reuse (pre-packaged, bulk and refill) falling within the scope of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for catering packaging. This refers to primary food packaging used specifically in catering operations, where the volume or mass strictly exceeds the values set out in the annex to the decree of 20 July 2023. This is an extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme.

It is clear that the foodservice packaging market is at different stages of maturity. Consequently, through this call for projects, CITEO PRO has sought to focus its funding programme on:

  • Packaging that is rarely or never reused but has significant potential for reuse (cans, buckets, jars, Gastronorm containers, etc.)
  • Research and development projects into reuse solutions that do not yet exist (rigid plastic bottles, BIBs, etc.)

Please note: the purchase of beer kegs is not eligible under this call for proposals.

What funding options are available for my project?

CITEO PRO aims to support as many projects as possible, regardless of the applicants’ stage of development: studies, trials and scale-up, and research and development projects that facilitate the roll-out of re-use.

These projects are funded at 50 per cent of eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of €50,000 (excluding VAT) per project.

Special provision for projects involving traceability equipment for reusable catering packaging: the maximum funding limit for these projects will be increased to €62,500 excluding VAT.

Geographical scope: mainland France and the DROM COM regions
